Dave Dravecky

Dave Dravecky’s story is one of hope, courage and perseverance in the midst of dark and overwhelming uncertainty. In 1988 Dave was at the top of his game and life. Not only did he have a wonderful family but he was reaching his all-star peak playing the game of his childhood dreams. His 5-1 opening day victory over the Dodgers was overshadowed later that fall by the discovery of cancer and the removal of half of the deltoid muscle in his pitching arm. Defying all odds, Dave came back to pitch once again in the Major Leagues.  He became an inspiration not only to cancer fighters, but to all who needed hope that day.
Sadly, Dave’s comeback was short-lived. Five days later, in Montreal, Dave threw “…the pitch that could be heard round the world.” Dave’s arm had split in two. As he tumbled to the ground, his mind filled with doubt and fear. Little did he know that the dream he had since he was a little boy, was simply a platform for his purpose to share hope with the suffering around the world. Video

AC Green

A.C. Green played in 1,192 consecutive National Basketball Association games between 1986 and 2001, an all-time record that some observers think may never be broken. But he stood apart from his fellow NBA players in other respects as well. Green startled the public in the 1990s by announcing--close to the time former Philadelphia 76ers center Wilt Chamberlain was bragging of his 20,000 sexual conquests--that he had never engaged in sexual intercourse. In an age when prodigious sexual activity among professional basketball players was common enough to be almost a stereotype, Green stated that he planned to enter into a sexual relationship only after marriage. Today, Green is married to Veronique Green. The two were wed on April 20, 2002. Currently, he runs youth camps through his A.C. Green Youth Foundation promoting abstinence until marriage and family values.
